Here a large collection of my own photos, as an impression of the atmosphere. For the description, you have to use your mouse at the bottom of the photo.
Here some links (in black) of villages, cities and other things that I know or think are worthwhile. With the km's and travel time behind it.
Senheim : The nearest village on the Moselle. You can walk 4 km through the woods and vineyards. By car it is 7 km and 9 minutes . There are a few restaurants, a campsite and a harbor. On the other side of the Moselle is Senhals (The sister village, under the same link) Also with restaurants and an ice cream parlor.
Beilstein : 9 km and 10 minutes away. Called the Sleeping Beauty of the Moselle. Totally deserted in winter, very busy in summer because of the buses and boats, which bring loads of people for a day. But it is beautiful, for such a small village it has a giant church, a Ruin Castle, where you have a beautiful view of the Moselle in the tower and you can also have a drink. Moreover, there are many terraces and restaurants. You can board the boat to the north (towards Cochem) or to the south (Traben-Trarbach). There is also a ferry with which you can go to the other side, because there are not just any bridges here.
Zell (on the Moselle) is the nearest town and has over 4000 inhabitants. It is not 10 km from us and just a 15 minute drive. It is known for the Zeller Black Cat, after which the wine is named. It has a nice center with terraces, shops and restaurants. You can go up the mountain via a steep climbing path, or by shuttle bus.
The other side of the village (Zell Kaimt) can be reached via a pedestrian bridge over the Moselle, there are not many of them. On the mountain, a little further is a huge shopping center, where you get everything you need. It is worth the walk along. Look at the site for more, because there is plenty to do.
The Geierlay Suspension Bridge is very impressive. 360 meters long and 100 meters high above a valley. It is 30 km and 31 minutes to Mörsdorf where the official parking lot and the official starting point are. To Sosberg, where it is a lot quieter and you can park your car at a house for payment of 2 euros it is 15 km and only 15 minutes . That is the useful of knowing the way.
Check here every now and then, the list keeps growing.
